The RUGGEDCOM RST916C switch is well-suited for space-constrained cabinets, such as those used in Electric Power substations and Intelligent Transportation Systems. This compact layer 2 switch features multiple high voltage (HI) and low Voltage (LO) integrated power supply options, Gigabit Ethernet and IEEE1588 v2 Precision Time Protocol support.

Space-saving and robust industrial design

Building on the Red Dot award-winning design of the RSG900C series of switches, the RUGGEDCOM RST916C further enhances the user experience with functional features such as all front-facing ports and connectors, including the USB console and CLP for configuration. The switch is DIN-rail mountable and will fit in space constrained cabinets due to their compact form factor. This reduces in-field installation time while also simplifying configuration and maintenance.

High immunity:

The proliferation of IP networking technology in real-time, mission critical control applications requires a level of immunity to electromagnetic interference (EMI) beyond what is currently delivered by commercial grade networking products. Technology used in RUGGEDCOM products is able to withstand all EMI type tests required by IEC 61850-3 without any communications loss or delays. Products with this technology also qualify as IEEE 1613 class 2 error-free devices. This innovation – known as Zero Packet Loss™ technology – is designed to provide the same level of EMI immunity as protective relaying devices.

Trusted security:

RUGGEDCOM products do not just offer immunity against electromagnetic interference, they also come with a variety of advanced cybersecurity features. These include multilevel user passwords, SSH/SSL (128-bit encryption), enable/disable ports, MAC-based port security, VLAN (802.1Q) to segregate and secure network traffic, RADIUS centralized password management, as well as SNMPv3 authentication and 56-bit encryption.
