CSE-Uniserve Pty Limited - Slip Energy Recovery System - Rotor Drive

  • Product: CSE Uniserve Slip Energy Recovery System (SER) Rotor Drive
The CSE Uniserve Slip Energy Recover System (SER) is designed and manufactured to CSE Uniserve’s specification in Switzerland, to the IEC61850 family of standards for speed control of wound rotor induction motors. Typical applications include mills, crushers, fans and pumps.  Designed and manufactured in Europe to CSE Uniserve’s specifications, offers the ultimate in single or dual motor speed control.

Features:

  • Active Power Factor control – Target is unity for the Stator. Recovery circuit Active VAR Generation
  • Our SER will operate the motor above synchronous speed and without a synchronous speed deadband.
  • Constant Torque, even at above synchronous speeds – i.e. Maximum motor shaft power is proportional to motor speed
  • Bi-directional transfer to LRS under controlled or SER trip conditions. This ensures the plant will keep running on LRS and is achieved by the ability of our LRS to track the operation of the SER.
  • This tie up provides near bump-less transfers.
  • Running current headroom and overload currents can be tailored to the project specification
  • Control is via proprietary main controller – no PLC is used or required
  • Our standard SER is rated at IP54, fully cooled via liquid, with no need for air through flow fans filters etc
  • IGBT Liquid to Air heat-exchange platform (transfers heat to outside meaning almost no effect on switch room air-conditioning)
  • Extremely small footprint and no rear access required – Cabinets only 800mm deep and 1900mm high.
  • Wide ambient operating temperature range (minus 40°C to +50°C) available
  • Altitude to 5000m
  • Bi-Directional motor rotation capability as standard
  • Recovery transformer pre-charge (low inrush)
  • Fieldbus Connectivity
  • Supplied as a complete unit with the Swiss made Recovery Transformer
  • Enclosure frame is stainless steel - skin can also be optioned to stainless steel
  • 100mm Galvanised Plinth, with removable lifting lugs, is included as standard

At CSE Uniserve, we are committed to providing local engineering design services and support that is high quality, and also to the effective delivery of technically advanced products and systems to meet the needs of the modern utilities, mining and other heavy industry, milling, crushing and large pumps.

We combine our extensive knowledge of engineering design with world-leading technologies to design and offer two highly specialised products; Australian Made Liquid Resistance Starters (LRS) and the high performance Slip Energy Recovery Drives (SER).  Both these technologies are the result of CSE Uniserve’ commitment to product development focused on customer outcomes.

The CSE Uniserve Slip Energy Recover System (SER) is designed and manufactured to CSE-Uniserve’s specification to the IEC61850 family of standards for speed control of wound rotor induction motors. Typical applications include mills, crushers, fans and pumps.  Manufactured in Europe to CSE Uniserve’s specifications, the Uniserve SER offers the ultimate in single or dual motor speed control.

Here at CSE Uniserve, we have successfully served the needs of our customers for over 35 years and our team of engineers possess a level of expertise that is second to none. We continually endeavour to exceed the expectations of our clients and pride ourselves in meeting the considerable demands of power system automation, protection and data management applications across the industries that we serve. We are firmly committed to developing relationships with new clients having successfully created high-value, mutually beneficial relationships with our long-term partners to date.

Advantages of a Variable Speed Drive or VSD

Just one of the many solutions we provide at CSE Uniserve is the variable frequency drive, or variable speed drive in both Low and High voltage.  A VSD controls motor torque and speed by varying the input power frequency and voltage. There are a number of advantages of this type of motor drive, which can include:

-    At start up and stop, a VSD greatly reduces the risk of damage to the motor or powered equipment from shock loading

-    Energy savings through reduced in rush current on starting and the ability to control motor speeds

-    A VSD increases the longevity of the motor, which therefore increases cost-effectiveness and efficiency

-   It eliminates the need for mechanical drive components that are often expensive and therefore allows for an immediate saving, which typically justify the initial outlay and installation expenses.

-    Correctly selecting and using a VSD reduces power line disturbances that can result from motor operation

At CSE Uniserve, we offer superior unparalleled service guarantee as well as long-term support, service, parts and maintenance expertise that is unrivalled. This is particularly important where a variable speed drive is concerned because any disadvantages that have been noted to date can be safeguarded against through correct installation, maintenance and operational practices.

A commitment to customers and the future

Here at CSE Uniserve, our commitment is not only to our customers but also toward the future. It is imperative that companies now integrate practices and processes with a sustainable future in mind and to this end, we are dedicated to streamlining what we do without compromising the quality of our service. What’s more, we have built a culture of continuous improvement to ensure that our customers have confidence in our products and instil best practices that see our team strive for complete understanding of your needs and expectations.

As such, we hope that our dedication to both industry and the environment will match yours, and we hope that when our conversation about your company begins we will work together to develop solutions that will exceed your expectations.

As the motor is started via Liquid Resistance Starter, the max rotor voltage is determined by the delta speed range, about synchronous, required for the application. Typically for SAG Mill or Ball Mill applications, a maximum of 15% delta speed is required and is usually expressed as 85%-110% of synchronous speed. This therefore highlights that our SER can operate the motor above synchronous speed.
