  • CSE Uniserve Slip Energy Recovery System (SER) Rotor Drive
Energy Recovery System For Motor Speed Control | CSE Uniserve The CSE Uniserve Slip Energy Recover System (SER) is designed and manufactured to CSE Uniserve’s specification in Switzerland, to the IEC61850 family of standards for speed control of wound rotor induction motors. Typical applications include mills, crushers, fans and pumps.  Designed and manufactured in Europe to CSE Uniserve’s specifications, offers the ultimate in single or dual motor speed control.

Features:

  • Active Power Factor control – Target is unity for the Stator. Recovery circuit Active VAR Generation
  • Our SER will operate the motor above synchronous speed and without a synchronous speed deadband.
  • Constant Torque, even at above synchronous speeds – i.e. Maximum motor shaft power is proportional to motor speed
  • Bi-directional transfer to LRS under controlled or SER trip conditions. This ensures the plant will keep running on LRS and is achieved by the ability of our LRS to track the operation of the SER.
  • This tie up provides near bump-less transfers.
  • Running current headroom and overload currents can be tailored to the project specification
  • Control is via proprietary main controller – no PLC is used or required
  • Our standard SER is rated at IP54, fully cooled via liquid, with no need for air through flow fans filters etc
  • IGBT Liquid to Air heat-exchange platform (transfers heat to outside meaning almost no effect on switch room air-conditioning)
  • Extremely small footprint and no rear access required – Cabinets only 800mm deep and 1900mm high.
  • Wide ambient operating temperature range (minus 40°C to +50°C) available
  • Altitude to 5000m
  • Bi-Directional motor rotation capability as standard
  • Recovery transformer pre-charge (low inrush)
  • Fieldbus Connectivity
  • Supplied as a complete unit with the Swiss made Recovery Transformer
  • Enclosure frame is stainless steel - skin can also be optioned to stainless steel
  • 100mm Galvanised Plinth, with removable lifting lugs, is included as standard

When you have been working alongside the best in the industry for over 35 years, you learn a thing or two about the requirements of your customers and gain invaluable insights into where savings can be made and processes streamlined to maximise the return on investment of equipment. A kinetic recovery system is a good example of a product that puts otherwise waste energy to use, by recycling kinetic energy generated under braking through a process of storing it and using it later for the purposes of acceleration.

At CSE Uniserve, we have worked side-by-side with partners in Switzerland to design and manufacture the CSE Uniserve Slip Energy Recovery System (SER) Rotor Drive, which caters to speed control of wound rotor induction motors and offers the ultimate in single or dual motor control.

The SER is fully cooled via liquid, eliminating the need for air through systems, near bump-less transfers are achieved and even at above synchronous speeds, constant torque is possible. This unit has an extremely small footprint, it comes with active power factor control and there is no synchronous speed deadband. In addition to this, there is no requirement for PLC seeing as the proprietary main controller facilitates control. It has been designed for use with mills, crushers, fans and pumps.

Why the UniStarter VSD is a worthy choice

In our industries, the cost of investing in any additional products, machinery and technology usually come with a hefty price, however, it is worth considering the long-term benefits of such advanced technologies such as the variable frequency drive. What’s more, as a CSE Uniserve partner, you will benefit from bespoke design, maintenance and servicing expertise when it comes to your investment, further safeguarding it.  A UniStarter can even be reconfigured in terms of size and shape to suit specific and existing switch room requirements.

The major saving that can be made when a VSD is deployed is energy. As we all move toward energy conservation and being much more thoughtful about how it is expended in our processes, this is the key benefit that you will gain an advantage from, which will streamline motor efficiency and best of all save money. What’s more, the presence of a variable frequency drive means that there is no requirement for expensive mechanical drive components, which has a knock-on effect of reducing power line disturbances.

It is imperative that when you spend on machinery the motor at its core will last for a long time and not become prone to breakdowns, repairs and/or replacement. A variable speed drive greatly reduces the amount of damage caused during start-up and stopping, which means that the motor is better protected in terms of its sustainability and potential service. All motors will age, but if you are regularly encountering breakdowns then this can prematurely speed up the ageing process.

Tech + Expertise = World Class Service

At CSE Uniserve, we believe in offering value to our customers through alternative technologies and solutions that may prove a better fit for their specific circumstances and requirements as opposed to well-known default brands, in the market.
